Record a Chrome tab
with its audio.

Recording a tab is easy. Recording the sound is where almost everyone gets a silent file. It comes down to one checkbox.

The checkbox everyone misses

When Chrome shows the share dialog, the “Share tab audio”toggle sits in the bottom-left corner — and it's off by default. Tick it before you click Share. That single switch is the difference between a narrated demo and a muted clip.

Step by step

1

Click Start Recording

Open DemoZoom and click Start Recording. Chrome opens its native share dialog.

2

Choose “Chrome Tab”

Pick the Chrome Tab option (not Window or Entire Screen) and select the tab you want. Tab capture gives the cleanest result — no desktop clutter, no other apps' notification sounds.

3

Tick “Share tab audio”

In the bottom-left of the dialog, enable Share tab audio. This is the step that captures sound. Then click Share.

4

Add your voice (optional)

Enable the microphone to narrate over the tab's audio — both are mixed into the final MP4.

5

Add zoom & export

Stop when done, drop a zoom point on any moment, and export an MP4 instantly — nothing is uploaded.

Note: “Share tab audio” only appears for the Chrome Taboption. If you share a Window or the Entire Screen, look for “Share system audio” instead (available on Windows; macOS limits system-audio capture).

FAQ

How do I record a Chrome tab with sound?

Start recording, choose the 'Chrome Tab' option in the share dialog, pick the tab, and tick the 'Share tab audio' checkbox in the bottom-left of that dialog. That checkbox is what captures the tab's sound — without it the recording is silent.

Why is my screen recording silent?

The most common cause is that 'Share tab audio' (or 'Share system audio') was left unchecked in Chrome's share dialog. Tab audio is opt-in per recording. Start again and make sure the audio checkbox is ticked before clicking Share.

What's the difference between tab audio and system audio?

Tab audio captures only the sound from the one Chrome tab you share (clean, no notifications). System audio captures everything your computer plays. For a product demo, tab audio is cleaner; for a video player in another app, share the whole screen with system audio.

Can I record tab audio and my microphone together?

Yes. Tab audio captures what the page plays; enabling the microphone adds your voice-over on top. DemoZoom mixes both into the exported MP4.
